Currently, the seventh grade social studies class is working on a very big project, called Project Citizen. Project Citizen is a project that is done every year in seventh grade here at Elm Place Middle School. Students choose an issue occurring anywhere around the country as long as the issue has impacted the grade and encourage them to solve it. The seventh grade works very hard to gather as much information as they can, and turn this plan into action.
This year, the project is focused on going green, which is going to be an ultimate goal for all of Elm Place. A green school is a school that does as much as they are capable of to help the earth. This includes re-using certain materials, and using the littlest amount of paper as they can. We are gathering information to understand many solutions for this issue, and we are using many different sources to help our whole school go green. We believe that we can make a huge difference, and maybe even influence schools around us to go green as well.
